It's been quite some time since my last post, but I guess that's what happens with summer! Before I knew it, two weeks turned into a month turned into six weeks. But if I write about nothing else for the rest of this fleeting season, I simply must share with you this...
Yes, that is an exquisitely executed lattice crust, Farmer's market-bounty strawberry rhubarb pie. My brother, Anthony, who just graduated from culinary school made it look as easy as well, pie.
With every bite of buttery crust came a burst of sweet berries and tart rhubarb, melded together with just a kiss of lemon. Warm out of the oven, the filling was practically running to meet my fork for consumption. Cooled the next day, it made of a delightful breakfast with a steaming cup of Kona coffee (thanks, Noura!) which I enjoyed on the deck while gazing out at the lake. Pure, unadulterated summer luxury.
did he make it? i want a slice of pie right now. my favorite summer pie is concord-grape pie!
